Clash Of The Titans

Clash Of The Titans - This may take a little keeping up with. Tarsem Singh's new Greek mythology-based, 3D adventure film, now filming in Montreal, started out as "War of the Gods." Then the title was changed to "Dawn of War," which was probably less descriptive, so the powers that be at Relativity Media, which is producing the film, changed it back to "War of the Gods."

At which point the problems started. One, it sounds a hair too much like "Clash of the Titans Film" which easily took the number one slot at the box office this past weekend.

It also sounds too much like "God of War," Universal is also developing another Greek mythology-themed project, "God of War," based on the popular video game. As Variety reports, that gave "God of War" a leg up in the battle for title supremacy. While Singh's movie is already in principal photography and already has a release date (November 11, 2011), "God of War" has the built-in audience. A third installment, exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 3, is out in stores now and selling briskly. Universal is also going to distribute "War of the Gods," aka "Dawn of War," aka "War of the Gods."

Which is now, by the way, being called "Immortals."

Variety also reports that William Hurt has joined the cast of "Immortals" in the role of an Earthly incarnation of the god Zeus, who has already been played this year alone by Sean Bean in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and Liam Neeson in "Clash of the Titans."

I think I mentioned that mythology, particularly Greek mythology, was a growth trend in Hollywood. I'm sure I mentioned something about that.

The entertainment daily also reports that Isabel Lucas is joining the cast of "Immortals" as the goddess Athena, played by Melina Kanakaredes in "Percy Jackson" and Izabella Miko in "Clash of the Titans." Pretty soon, young students are likely to be asking each other "Who's your favorite Zeus?" It boggles the mind.
